主要有兩個層面吧

一個是政治經濟方面

當時歐洲開始有ㄧ些國家崛起像是英法為了擴展自己的國力地盤以及資源(像是絲綢黃金香料...等等) 紛紛往未知的東方世界擴張希望能夠到達另一個未知的世界探險得到更多意想不到的收穫也可藉機宣揚國威

另一個是思想方面

十五世紀已經經歷過文藝復興也正往許多思想革命的新紀元邁進逐漸打破傳統宗教所給的迷信開始有勇於挑戰創新的想法出現像是傳統地球是平的的那種觀念許多敢冒險嘗試的外國佬才會因此不顧危險地到東方世界來冒險
