引進「山達基」 醫師是推手

財團法人「山達基」教會7日在高雄前金區成立亞洲最大教會，幕後推手是內科醫師薛智元，他認為，以藥物治療身體的病痛只是治標，唯有快樂、心靈舒展，才是讓身體健康的根本之道。

21年前，薛智元因友人介紹赴美一年，了解「山達基」心靈課程，返國後成為台灣創教成員，當初面對的瓶頸主要來自於一般人的陌生與不解，因而必須經由體驗讓更多人認識進而認同。

他說，本身雖是醫師，但也深刻體會到，現代人的許多問題都遠遠超過醫療範疇，透過創教人羅賀特經驗和技術傳承解決這些問題，從中讓他感到無比快樂，領略生命的價值和喜悅，比賺進大量金錢更有意義。

薛智元解釋，基本上，山達基的「聆聽員」本身不做任何問題判斷、說明或治療，而是由求助者自述所面對的問題，再經由談話過程中，去發掘癥結，例如，對婚姻恐懼者，在表達想法後，自行體會到問題的本質可能來自於幼年時家庭環境因素，換言之，也就是一種「自我覺醒」。
