【時報-台北電】DisplaySearch指出，高解析度電視發展強勁，市場對LED晶片和配套的需求也隨之增強。而高解析度電視在中國最受歡迎，比如4K2K電視已經成為中國電視市場的一大熱門。為此，一些面板廠商如群創和華星光電開發了4K2K面板，而一些電視品牌廠商如創維和海爾正在開發高階高解析度電視機。由於4K2K面板的透光率較差，因此背光模組設計者必須使用更大或更亮的LED晶片以達到面板的亮度規格。

2013年普通電視的LED晶片需求量在其總需求中占59.6％。隨著越來越多的電視廠商使用直下型背光模組，至2017年普通電視在LED顯示應用中的需求量將降至53.8％。不過4K2K電視的需求將從2014年的0.3％增至2017年的22.7％。因此，LED晶片需求量將從2013年的12.52億片增至2017年的57.38億片。(新聞來源：工商即時 袁顥庭)
