【時報-台北電】為解決來臺觀光客入境後申請iTaiwan大排長龍問題，交通部觀光局與行政院研考會開發iTaiwan網頁申請機制，自明(20)日起，來臺旅客可於出發前，上網至http://itaiwan.taiwan.net.tw網站登記申請，入境後，到觀光局服務櫃臺或全國各地旅服中心服務臺憑護照即可開通iTaiwan帳號，有效使用時間為30天，必要時可延長為60天或90天。

交通部觀光局為解決國外來臺旅客入境後之通訊問題，協調行政院研究發展考核委員會開放iTaiwan（愛臺灣）約5,100個WiFi熱點，提供國外來臺旅客一個容易取得且方便使用的WiFi通訊環境，已於今年5月中旬開放申請，至11月底，已超過137個國家，10萬人次申請。

帳號開通後，來臺旅客只要在全臺無線上網熱點，使用支援WiFi的智慧型行動裝置，選擇「iTaiwan」WiFi網路識別名稱，輸入帳號與密碼登入後，即可無限使用iTaiwan WiFi無線上網，查詢觀光旅遊及交通資訊。（新聞來源：旺報─李鋅銅）
