從9月1日大聯盟擴編一軍名單以來，王建民等不到藍鳥隊的電話，他決定返回奧蘭多家中，也代表王建民2013年球季正式畫下句點。

王建民等不到藍鳥隊的復出電話，加上小聯盟球季早已經結束，因此王建民也決定回家開始休息，他今年在小聯盟留下8勝7敗，2.87防禦率的成績，從數據來看，表現十分優異，但大聯盟的戰績則是一勝兩敗，防禦率高達7.67，這是王建民自2009年以來，第一個沒有受傷的完整球季，王建民表示，明年將繼續留在美國，力拚重返大聯盟的機會。
