泰國極為知名的「幽魂娜娜」真實傳說相信大家耳熟能詳，幽魂娜娜的恐怖故事中，她的淒美愛情卻又令人動容，至今已流傳超過百年的幽魂娜娜傳說也被改編成多部電影，而幽魂娜娜的「鬼妻廟」也吸引許多信徒前往膜拜。

在泰國當地人民心中占有一席地位的鬼妻「幽魂娜娜」，悲慘的命運及對於愛情堅貞不已的心讓人既害怕又不捨，而她的故事也從1969年流傳至今。

相傳，有著美麗外表的娜娜擁有許多愛慕者，但她一直忠心於自己的丈夫馬戈，兩人婚後一直如膠似漆，甜蜜的感情羨煞旁人，但因為戰爭馬戈被國家徵招從軍，兩人被迫分開。

據說，娜娜與馬戈分離時已懷有身孕，天天坐在河邊等待馬戈歸來。但因馬戈離去時間太久，娜娜也被村落裡的人謠傳與其他人偷偷交往、背叛丈夫等，種種流言蜚語讓娜娜怨忿交錯。

而娜娜在生產當天難產，她與肚子裡的小孩雙雙過世，爾後，她的家中常會傳出哭泣聲，再沒有村民敢接近。當馬戈重新回到村裡，只要有村民向馬戈示意她已經過世的事實，就會被娜娜殺害，因此他對於妻子已經難產而死的消息一無所知。
