荷蘭非營利組織太空計畫公司「火星一號」(Mars One)，自開辦「永久移民火星計劃」以來，以吸引全球140個國家、將近20萬人的報名，而其中有四分之一的申請者皆來自美國。

由荷蘭企業家蘭斯卓普(Bas Lansdorp)主導的火星探測計劃，希望在火星建立人類永久基地，並預計籌募到60億美元資金，於2023年能夠順利啟動移民火星的任務。

據了解，「永久移民火星計劃」於今年4月開放報名，而在短短兩周內就已收到將近8萬份的申請書。而「火星一號」於本月9日再次表示，總共已收到20萬2586人的報名，共來自140個不同的國家。

其中，有25%的報名者來自美國，印度則佔10%、中國大陸佔6%、巴西佔5%，大家皆爭相要成為定居火星的第一批人類。

「火星一號」表示，預計在2015年前安排10支4人隊伍接受密集的培育訓練，而在2023年時能讓第一批先鋒隊伍啟程，預估此趟旅程將會花7個月的時間完成。
