資策會MIC預估，2013年全球LTE用戶將達到1.22億戶，2017年更將成長至9.43億戶。

資策會MIC產業顧問張奇表示，面對網路流量需求不斷攀升及創新應用服務需求增加的影響，未來4G網路的發展趨勢，將朝向「局端輕量化、接取高速化、網路智慧化、使用者介面(UI)擬真化」的四個方向發展；例如，未來Small Cell產品在電信業者進行局端輕量化、網路智慧化管理及異質網路的整合過程中，將會扮演重要的角色。
