有人喜歡把靠枕放在床頭，睡覺時堆在一旁，這樣對頸椎及睡眠都有影響。首先，最適宜的枕頭高度是10~12厘米，而靠枕、枕頭堆在一起會增加其高度;其次，靠枕會藏匿一些病原微生物、顢蟲、灰塵，被吸入口鼻容易誘發支氣管問題;最後，雜物繁多的床還會給人心理造成壓力，同時占用空間，讓人睡得不自在。

床在古代中國最早是招待人、待客用的，直到現在北方的一些邊遠地區招待客人還是請你上炕呢，不上炕顯得不熱情。據東北網報導，晚清時期，古代中國人吸食鴉片都是在床上，所謂煙榻。他為什麼不坐在椅子上吸？並不是說躺在床上好吸，是因為躺在床上是一種等級和禮遇。你看皇上的寶座，它就是一個床型而不是椅子型。

梅辰：皇上的寶座都很難流出宮，這麼大的龍床您是怎麼弄來的？馬未都：歷史上買的唄。那時候沒人認它，有人認我就買不著了嘛。我永遠都處在社會中沒錢的地位，我從來不是個有錢人。
