原住民復名雖從民國84年開始推動，但台南市總計6692人的原住民人口數，截至今年7月底止，卻僅有82人完成復名，比例連0.1 ％都不足，最近有不少原住民族人紛紛向市議員蔡玉枝反映，向台南市所轄的各戶政事務所申請回復傳統姓名登記，卻被告知應先取得原住民身份才能回復傳統姓名，他們覺得有被刁難的感覺。
