【戴安瑋／台北報導】台灣目前共記錄約450種蜘蛛，但根據野外觀察及過往調查經驗，其種類估計應有千種以上！農委會特生中心今說，蜘蛛雖然對獵物而言皆 具有毒性，但僅有極少數種類會對人體有顯著危害。在台灣僅長尾蛛、赤背寡婦蛛等種類具較強毒性，只要避免徒手捕捉，其實可以與蜘蛛和平共處。
特 生中心說，常出現在住處附近的白額高腳蛛，即俗稱的「旯犽」，外表不討喜但是天然剋蟑高手，能夠幫忙抑制屋中的蟑螂。在野外環境中，其實有更多色彩豐富、 造型特殊的蜘蛛，如偽裝成鳥糞的鳥糞蛛、擬態成螞蟻的蟻蛛、戴著眼罩的蟹蛛、身體細長的蚓腹蛛、腹部長刺的棘蛛、裝成枯枝或樹瘤的尖鼻蛛，模樣可愛。
