【大紀元2013年10月24日訊】（大紀元記者魏文彬綜合報導）美國職棒大聯盟MLB世界大賽第一場，波士頓紅襪對決聖路易紅雀，紅襪在前兩局就攻下5分大局奠定勝基，並且紅襪王牌左投列斯特(Jon Lester)7.2局僅被擊出5支安打外加8次三振無失分的完美演出，終場以8比1重挫紅雀，獲得世界大賽第一場的勝利。
紅雀隊先發投手韋恩萊特(Adam Wainwright)在首局就出現不穩，一上來就保送首位打者，一出局紅襪靠著安打攻佔一二壘，第四棒歐提斯(David Ortiz)打擊時出現爭議判決，歐提斯擊出內野滾地球，二壘手卡本特(Matt Carpenter)將球傳給游擊手寇茲瑪(Pete Kozma)，二壘審原本宣判一壘上二壘的打者羅亞(Dustin Pedroia)出局，但因紅襪總教練抗議寇茲瑪沒有抓穩球，改判羅亞安全上壘並追加1次失誤形成1出局滿壘，接下來拿坡里(Mike Napoli) 敲出清壘的二壘安打，一局結束紅雀就以0比3落後。
