針對菲律賓公務船射擊我國漁船，造成一名船員不幸死亡的事件，國防部軍事發言人羅紹和上午表示，國軍後續會採取具體的策護應援作為，包括「擴大偵巡範圍、增加偵巡頻率」等。

羅紹和強調，國軍配合政府的護漁政策，在「適法」原則下，國軍會持續加強我國海、空域的偵巡，作漁民和海巡署的堅強後盾。對於本事件是否會影響我國南沙研習營，羅紹和強調，並不影響。

軍方官員則表示，我國船艦前往太平島，走的是「公海」水域，並未進入菲國領海範圍，更何況我國海軍艦艇火力強大，一般國家不敢輕視。對於菲律賓蠻橫無理的行徑，海軍會增加偵巡的強度，以具體的作為，捍衛國家的尊嚴和安全。
