極寒天氣 為航空公司帶來極大問題

過去幾天，航空公司出現了極大的問題。美國多家航空公司宣布有大量航班遭取消或延誤，許多機場情況混亂。

根據FlightAware.com網站指出，昨日美國有逾4100航班遭到取消，近8000航班出現延誤。

周二上午六點，已有近1800航班遭到取消，預期仍將增加。

在美國許多地區，天氣良好，但氣象專家所稱的「極地漩流」，導致天氣嚴寒，氣溫大幅低於零下。就是這極寒的氣溫，導致了航空公司的困境。

極寒天氣影響了航空公司的地面作業。加油車，行李車，餐車與水肥車均出現了問題。

除了設備的問題外，燃料亦無法抵擋嚴寒。柴油燃料變得像果醬，無法抽進汽車裡。

因航班延誤，飛行員執勤時間一旦超過規定，便無法再飛，必須更換機組人員。然因航班延誤嚴重，更換機組人員愈益困難。
