Samsung increases tablet and smartphone component orders to China makers

Samsung Electronics is putting in increased tablet component orders to supply chains for tablets, with increasing proportions going to China makers.
The company has been increasing its order proportion to China makers throughout 2013 and is expected to continue doing so throughout the first quarter of 2014. Component makers in China such as BOE expect to see orders for LCD modules while O-Film and Truly Optoelectronics expect to see touch panel orders. The orders are reportedly for tablet products sized 7-, 8- and 10.1-inch.
Samsung's move comes as it is reportedly trying to save on supply chain costs.
The company is also putting in increased smartphone component order to China makers, particularly for entry-level to mid-range products, which may affect Taiwan makers' performances throughout the first quarter.
