屏東嚼檳比率高　逾半民眾不知檳榔致癌

【洪振生／屏東報導】2012年罹患口腔癌致死擠進國人死因第五名，然而屏東衛生局進一步調查卻發現，屏東民眾嚼檳率達16.6%，遠高於全國10.93%，但卻還有逾半民眾不了解嚼檳榔與癌症關係，顯示衛生保健宣導有待加強。
 
衛生局指出，該局在2012年抽驗縣內4萬多名30歲以上民眾，進行口腔篩檢，有2000多件口腔異常，通知追蹤只有1600多人複檢，其中45人確為口腔癌。許多人誤認檳榔不加石灰、荖葉，就不會致癌，其實觀念是不正確的，如果吞嚥或嚼食有困難，聲音沙啞或口腔表面顏色變白或紅色斑塊，都應該儘早治療。
