追查22年　紐約女童命案終偵破

【張翠蘭／綜合外電報導】22年前美國紐約市一處公路旁發現無名女童屍體，辦案警探為她取名為「希望寶寶」，並鍥而不捨追查，如今終於循線偵破。警方前天宣布確認女童身分，她遇害時年僅4歲，並逮捕當年性侵棄屍的兇手，現年52歲洗碗工華雷茲（Conrado Juarez）。

「希望寶寶」的父母來自墨西哥，遇害時剛離異，女童跟著父親的親戚住在皇后區。華雷茲供稱案發當天他去拜訪姊姊拉米雷茲，在公寓走廊見到女童，一時色心大起，卻在性侵她過程中悶死她。他姊姊得知後，取來野餐用的保冰箱，兩人合力將女童屍體塞入保冰箱，再一起搭計程車載至曼哈頓一條公路旁丟棄。同年7月23日，一名工人循著腐臭味找到箱屍而報案。
