【周佩萱／綜合外電報導】7歲的奧瑪從未上過學，在他準備入學的時候，敘利亞爆發內戰，奧瑪和家人來到黎巴嫩避難，至今已經一年多，奧瑪還是無法就學，並得在街頭打零工幫人家擦鞋，以幫忙維持家庭生計，奧瑪表示他很想去上學，但卻都遭到拒絕。
 
黎巴嫩當局表示負責救濟的機構資金不足，無法提供敘利亞兒童就學，當地的公立學校也沒有多餘的名額，可以開放給敘利亞兒童就讀，聯合國估計約有40萬名兒童逃到黎巴嫩，其中不到四分之一的人有就學機會，這些孩童很可能成為失落的一代。
 
根據聯合國難民事務高級專員公署(UNHCR)統計，2011年3月敘利亞爆發動亂以來，截至2013年上半年，逃離到鄰近國家的難民人數已逾150萬人。
