黑猩猩喪偶　8年低迷不振

【綜合報導】英國史丹佛郡的「卓萊頓曼諾動物園」(Drayton Manor Zoo)，住有一頭現年47歲的雄性黑猩猩「托托」(Toto)，看起來老是滿臉憂愁的托托，引發不少遊客關心，擔心托托是否生病，園方為解釋托托憂鬱的原因，還特別在托托的籠子外，立了告示牌，然而告示牌上的故事，更是讓遊客感到難過。
 
托托2歲時來到這個動物園後，和另一頭母猩猩「托普絲」(Topsy)，成為伴侶，2人共同生活了36年，期間相親相愛難以分割，但8年前托普絲自然死亡，托托從此低迷不振。
 
園方當時原本希望幫托托尋找新伴侶，但靈長類專家不建議這麼做，表示讓年邁的托托在熟悉的環境，過著熟悉的生活對牠比較好，園方決定讓托托一個人繼續生活在動物園裡，直到牠過世為止。
