【姚瑞宸／綜合報導】海盜隊全場才擊出5支安打，但8月底才從大都會隊交易來的柏德(Marlon Byrd)在第7局揮出的陽春全壘打，助他們以2比1力克小熊隊，戰績追平紅雀隊，並居國聯中區第1名。
兩隊演出投手戰，海盜隊先發投手柯爾(Gerrit Cole)7局被擊出7支安打，同時投出7次三振，只失1分，贏得個人第8勝。
小熊先發投手貝克(Scott Baker)，投6局被擊出3支安打，只在第6局被塔巴塔(Jose Tabata)擊出陽春砲失分。
