IDC周四發布報告指出，預期平板電腦將面臨其他裝置更為激烈的競爭，包括較大的智慧型手機及穿戴式電腦。該研究集團因而調降了平板電腦的銷售預估。

IDC將2013年平板電腦銷售預估由2.293億台調降至2.274億台。

該集團亦預測北美與西歐地區成長將減緩，並說「市場飽和，智慧型手機增加採用5吋大螢幕，及穿戴式電腦終將成長，將衝擊到所有地區平板電腦的成長，但最先可能會衝擊到成熟地區。」

預期蘋果，三星，亞馬遜等主要生產廠，將於今年稍後，推出新版平板電腦產品。
