《拔一條河》是一部紀錄甲仙鄉地區居民災後心境的真實故事的紀錄片，特別選在88風災即將屆滿4週年時發表。

你還記得88風災嗎？你還記得那場風災造成高雄甲仙鄉小林村整個遭土石流掩埋的事嗎？2009年8月8日，莫拉克颱風襲台，那是台灣50多年來最嚴重的水患，這場劫難重創了高雄甲仙鄉，造成當地1/3人口外移、留下有超過1/2的孩子為隔代教養或外配家庭。
《拔一條河》是一部紀錄甲仙鄉地區居民災後心境的真實故事的紀錄片，特別選在88風災即將屆滿4週年時發表。這是一部你看了，會哭、會笑、會感動、會心酸的一部片，因為它呈現的最是真實的人生。
《拔一條河》由統一超商贊助製作，金馬獎導演楊力州率領團隊，親自到高雄甲仙租房子，費時一年以上時間，描述甲仙國小小孩在缺乏學習資源下，不畏環境艱難的勇氣和精神，努力練習拔河為家鄉爭取最高榮譽，過程中更鼓舞大人一同奮起。
2011年透過高雄甲仙地區災後重建真實案例拍攝「拔一條河」微電影，影片點閱率超過60萬人，引發許多外界主動關注。微電影發表後，楊力州也提出期望突顯出更多甲仙的真實故事，於是他花了一年多的時間，完成了這部紀錄片。
今(6)日在首映會上，楊力州說，在台灣這個最壞的年代裡，為什麼選擇拍攝甲仙？他說，「這是全台灣人的共同命題，如果這個以新移民為主的受害小鎮站了起來，那台灣一定也可以站的起來」。
楊力州說，好久好久一段時間了，台灣的社會、人心都看不到希望，心中一直想追尋的夢想似乎也離自己越來越遙遠，「混一口飯吃」變成生命的現況。在大人們都喪志的當下，這群練習拔河的孩子並不這麼想，他們仍然緊握著繩索，為了榮耀自己而不放手。
就像紀錄片裡面，孩子們說的，「媽媽說要抓住繩子，一定要抓緊，抓緊了就會知道，那條河，不能帶走一切…」
