傳統皇朝的曆書都由皇帝頒布，與皇帝年號聯繫在一起，並且由官方刻印，因此傳統曆法被稱作「皇曆」。又因為最早的曆法來源於黃帝，因此也叫「黃曆」(圖:袖子)
