| 歐洲議會通過 對美監控歐盟進行調查

於法國舉行的歐盟歐洲議會(European Parliament)，在4日以483張同意票及98張反對票通過美國對歐盟監控一事的深入調查，並計劃於年底前提交結果。歐洲議會在決議中呼籲歐盟成員國考慮暫停與美國的航空乘客與銀行匯款的資訊共享，及延後歐盟貿易協議談判，以迫使美國就其國家安全局的監聽行動進行詳細解釋。
歐洲議會於4日以壓倒性票數贊同對美國監聽歐盟一事進行深入調查，負責調查的公民自由委員會(Civil Liberties Committee)將於今年底提交調查報告。歐洲議會議員對於此事表示強烈關切，並強烈譴責美國「稜鏡(PRISM)」及其他相關監控行動，呼籲美國進一步提供詳細資訊與說明。

| 瑞典連續3年創新指數全球排名第2名

根據新出刊的2013年全球創新指數，瑞典連續3年為第2名，排名首位為瑞士，英國排名第3，荷蘭第4，美國排名第5。
2013年全球創新指數由歐洲工商管理學院(INSEAD)與世界智慧財產權組織合作，對全球142個國家或經濟體在創新能力方面進行排名，雖然各國面臨經濟面臨不景氣衝擊，仍持續進行創新，以保持競爭力，瑞士及瑞典在許多方面表現良好，各項指標名列前茅。
全球創新指數評估分7大指標，分別為法制完善、人力資源與研究的投入、基礎建設、集資便利性、商業成熟度、知識與技術產出、創意產出。
