【林靜盛／雲林報導】雲林沿海今晨下起豪雨，麥寮、台西及四湖鄉等道路出現積水，水深20至50公分，一度湧進麥寮鄉民宅，且鄉內各級學校都因校園積水，緊急宣布停課；台西五港村凌姓民眾說：「已經連二週淹水了，我從晚上下大雨就不敢睡，水清晨3、4點左右開始淹！」即使馬上拿沙包擋水，庭院約50公分積水，還是滲進房內，希望政府快改善排水，否則每次大雨，家中都會泡水。

【謝岱穎／綜合報導】8月24日晚上10點23分，義大犀牛總教練徐生明因心肌梗塞過世，就在他離開的第7天，義大將士用命，初登板洋投尼克前6局無失分，終結者強克在1.1局的投球從158公里、159公里到160公里，連破3次最快球速紀錄，而攻下3打點、拿下單場MVP(Most Valuable Player，最有價值球員)的捕手林琨笙說：「今天是我今年第一次拿MVP，很遺憾沒有在徐總還在的時候拿給他看。」終場義大以5比3擊敗Lamigo桃猿，拿下徐總過世後的首勝。
碰上速球派的洋投捍力士，林琨笙在2局上敲深遠二壘打，率先攻下2分，8局上Lamigo追到只落後1分時，他又補上安打攻下第5分，2支安打都打在球隊最需要的時刻，在徐總頭七的這一天終於拿下本季個人首座單場MVP。
