【大紀元2013年10月02日訊】（大紀元記者高雲林多倫多編譯報導）與下棋和打橋牌相比，麻將在加拿大人眼中並沒有那麼好的名聲，他們常將其與非法賭博聯繫在一起，而非是一項益智活動。一個新成立的協會希望通過推廣該活動，扭轉西方人的麻將印象，接受這項「大腦的健康運動」。
最近一個週六下午，幾十人冒著風雨聚集在多倫多和萬錦的3個麻將訓練中心，參加加拿大麻將協會（Canada Mahjong Association）組織的活動。該協會剛於今年8月成立，有超過150位會員，其中不少人沒有華裔背景。

【大紀元2013年10月02日訊】（大紀元記者蘇明明多倫多編譯報導）據CBC報導, 消防隊員表示，當今家庭都配有現代化技術和以石油為基礎的產品，燃燒速度更快，危險前所未有。
溫莎消防與救援的首席培訓官阿克頓（Paul Acton）表示，50年前，通常情況下，如果一片羊毛或棉質沙發起火了，你不會看到滴液。現在合成材料著火，會有滴液，那是石油。所有的研究都發現，這會導致火勢快速蔓延、快速熱解和快速燃燒。
