| 新化合物防退化 治巴金森氏症

【國際中心／綜合外電報導】英國萊斯特大學學者昨宣稱發現一種化學物質，用於老鼠身上可防止腦細胞死亡。學者說，這是歷來首度發現藥物能延緩動物的神經退化疾病，若擴充研究，未來可望研發出人類用藥，用於治療阿茲海默症、巴金森氏症、亨丁頓舞蹈症等神經退化疾病。
主導研究的瑪露奇（Giovanna Mallucci）教授用罹患普利昂蛋白疾病的老鼠作實驗，罹病的細胞會因異常的蛋白質堆積，而停止製造新細胞，因而失憶或失去行動能力，甚至致命。瑪露奇以葛蘭素史克藥廠研發的藥物GSK2606414治療老鼠後，干擾了這種自然防衛機制，實驗中的老鼠並未出現腦細胞死亡的狀況，不過治療老鼠的新藥會對老鼠帶來糖尿病等副作用，開發人類用藥需要更多時間。
