曾獲台北美術獎首獎的藝術家任大賢因參與雲林縣草根藝術祭與麥寮鄉楊厝社區結緣，昨以「羊」做為社區吉祥物的概念，帶領在地民眾進行藝術表演或創作。

楊厝社區的地名由來是因先民在此放牧羊群而得名，任大賢計畫效法台北國際奔牛節彩繪活動的創作精神，帶領居民彩繪、改造麥寮羊，並與社區討論、創意激盪，配合運用當地大理石工廠的廢棄小碎塊貼成背景，把作品安置在社區各個角落，結合環保和繽紛的創意妝點家園。
