由於上季鐵礦砂產量勁揚，必和必拓（BHP Billiton）提高全年鐵礦砂產量目標，凸顯執行長馬肯希矢言專注生產的成效。

必和必拓（BHP Billiton）上修全年鐵礦砂產量預測，顯示執行長馬肯希（Andrew Mackenzie）誓言「持續不懈」專注生產的承諾奏效，該股股價22日創逾三個月來最大漲幅。
由於壓碎礦石的速度加快與來往港口的運輸效率提升，必和必拓將全年鐵礦砂產量提高2.4%至2.12億公噸，超越原先設定的2.07億公噸，主要是因為在西澳礦區供應鏈獲得改善，使產量優於預期。
此外，在截至9月30日的一季，鐵礦砂產量較去年同期成長23%至4,880萬公噸。鐵礦砂是必和必拓最大的獲利來源，占2013年度稅息折舊及攤銷前利潤的43%，相當於122億美元。
必和必拓鐵礦砂產量增加，正逢中國鋼鐵廠需求攀升。中國是鐵礦砂最大買主，9月進口攀抵7,500萬公噸的空前新高。
